Safe installation on station

fischer installation and fastening systems secure media lines at Lapland Central Hospital, Finland

Safe installation on station
With the project, the area of the central hospital in Lapland is expanded by 26,600 m² and the current premises are almost doubled. The expansion includes an emergency department, a psychiatric department, a children’s clinic and outpatient clinics. A spacious, airy aisle connects the new and old premises. In terms of design, the project is geared towards the well-being of patients. The architectural appearance, the floor plan, the materials used and the integration of the environment should create a pleasant atmosphere, taking into account natural light and the presence of nature. Particular attention is also paid to the most sustainable construction possible in order to minimise the ecological footprint while optimising the overall profitability of the hospital’s investment and use.

Bauherr is the Lapland Hospital District.  This joint authority of fifteen municipalities in Lapland is responsible for providing specialised medical care to the population of their region, as well as for the treatment and rehabilitation of people with drug abuse problems. In addition, the hospital expansion is an alliance project between several building stakeholders. These include the urban development and construction company YIT Suomi (Helsinki), the architectural firm Verstas Arkkitehdit (Helsinki), the company responsible for technical building equipment (TGA) Are (Vantaa), the building technology, consulting and software specialist Granlund Group (Helsinki), the engineering and consulting company WSP Group (Montreal), the geotechnical expert Geobotnia (Oulu) and the fire protection consulting and construction company L2 Paloturvallisuus (Helsinki). Construction started in 2021 February and is scheduled to be completed in three phases by 2025.

The FUS (fischer Universal Rail System) of the fischer Group is used to secure the pipes, ventilation ducts and cable trays inside the building. The installed FUS 41/2.5 mounting rails in combination with the corresponding construction elements provide secure support for the installations. The use of through-connection elements enables a quick and easy connection of rails and construction elements with full flexibility of the construction and allows the attachment of medium-heavy to heavy-duty pipe systems.

“In addition to the installation and fastening systems that meet the project and customer-specific requirements, we also impressed our client with our comprehensive technical support,” says Jere Makkonen, Managing Director of the fisheries subsidiary in Finland. "With our services, we already support those responsible for TGA during planning and technical development. In the further process, we accompany the project managers throughout all construction phases until the successful completion of the project." To efficiently calculate and depict the designs, fischer used 3D data and professional load calculation tools when planning the fastenings in the hospital. With the statics software applications, the required verification based on valid standards could be provided quickly and easily. With the help of the Install-Fix tool from the fischer FiXperience dimensioning software, the installation systems including suitable anchor selection and documentation could be calculated easily and conveniently.
