The Chinese technology group Huawei is investing heavily in its future. Spread over 14 buildings, the new research centre in Suzhou covers more than 750,000 square metres. The modern building complex is located west of Shanghai in the centre of the Sangtian Island of Suzhou, also known as China’s “Silicon Valley”. The total investment in the project is EUR 2.6 billion. The facility houses offices, staff homes, canteens, commercial space and auxiliary facilities. Once completed, the complex will provide space for 10,000 employees to live and work.
The project used a total of 1.4 million ZYKON plate anchors FZP II A4 M8 and 200,000 ZYKON undercut anchors FZA 12x40 M8/15 N A4 to secure the stone facade. The underframe of the curtained facade was fastened with 50,000 fischer RM reaction cartridges. All buildings were inspired by European architecture. Special types of granite were used to create various decorative stone shapes such as bevels and arches. These are found in the pillars from the floor to the ceiling as well as in the front end, in the canopy strip and in the window-frame pattern.
